Ceramic sanitaryware

There are 31 industrial companies producing ceramic sanitaryware in Italy, 28 of which are located in the Civita Castellana district (Viterbo), the most important national production centre for this sector. In 2024, the sector employed 2,697 people directly and produced 3.2 million pieces.

Sales amounted to 3.3 million units, generating a total turnover of €414.3 million. According to estimates, the Italian sanitaryware ceramics industry exports around 40% of its turnover, with its main foreign markets being the countries of the European Union, particularly Germany and France, and the United States.
