Ceramics of Italy Ceramics of Italy is the trademark that represents the Italian ceramics industry. The trademark was first established in 1972 as “Ceramiche italiane”, created to promote Italian ceramic tiles both in Italy and abroad — an initiative ahead of its time within the Italian Made in Italy industry. Over the years the trademark has evolved in response to increasingly international demands. Following the initial registration as Ceramiche italiane, it became Ceramic Tiles of Italy, and finally — in 2011 — Ceramics of Italy to represent the following industrial sectors of the Italian ceramics industry: tiles, sanitary ceramics, and tableware. By indicating the geographical origin of the product, the trademark embodies the values and qualities recognised worldwide in the Made in Italy ceramic industry: quality, transparency, leadership in design, product and process innovation, and environmental and social sustainability. Companies affiliated with Confindustria Ceramica that are licensees of the Ceramics of Italy trademark sign a specific set of rules governing its use. The Ceramics of Italy trademark constitutes the benchmark for the Association’s promotional activities, both nationally and internationally, and may only be used in connection with ceramic products manufactured in Italy.
