To promote the culture and use of Italian ceramics among specific target audiences, the Association has been organising competitions for several decades, addressed to different groups.
Ceramics of Italy Tile Competition is the international architecture competition promoted by the Italian ceramic industry and Cersaie, recognising the best architectural projects using Italian ceramic surfaces.
The Tile Competition was created through the merger of two Italian ceramic competitions: the Design Competition for the North American market, established over thirty years ago, and La Ceramica e il Progetto, the Italian competition held for the past eleven years. The new competition alternates annually between Europe and North America, starting in Europe in 2024 and continuing in North America in 2025.
The website www.tilecompetition.com provides the call for entries, application form, photo gallery and details of the jury members. The international jury evaluates submitted projects based on creativity, functionality, aesthetic appeal, sustainability and the use of ceramic materials.
The jury is chaired by Louisa Hutton (founding architect of Sauerbruch Hutton, Berlin), joined by Domitilla Dardi (design historian and curator at MAXXI, Rome), Luca Molinari (architect and Professor of Architectural Theory and Design at the University of Campania), Steve Clem (architect at TVS, Atlanta and Tampa) and Emilio Mussini (Chairman of the Promotional Activities and Trade Fairs Commission of Confindustria Ceramica).
Confindustria Ceramica Distributor Awards: an award open to distributors worldwide. The ceremony takes place each year at Cersaie.
Ceramics of Italy Journalism Award: a long-established award open to trade journalists worldwide. The ceremony takes place each year at Cersaie.
